Millions of people nowadays do not understand what is art. Art is often appreciated based on how people usually receive the idea and empathize towards it. Art can be subjective, states many people, particularly the youth nowadays. But with the rise of many Internet users and the hype of media pertaining to other forms of entertainment, has art become entwined with entertainment?

CNN recently wrote about how music sells and how image has overtaken music. Music is a form of art. In the earlier days, music is celebrated as entertainment, but still, it retains its intellectual factor. The trend nowadays is that anything entertaining, even art, can sell. This has made many artists compromise their own talents to make something that could sell. Because of this system, many fail to grasp the true meaning of art when one is faced with what one can call a true form of art.

A true form of art can be individualistic. It is the personal style of an individual in expressing themselves. Music, in itself, is an art form. Many who claim that anything popular is not art can also be wrong; it is not the fault of the artist if their own style empathizes with the many. However, if an art form is clearly something hard to understand, how does one understand it?

Is there a lack of understanding art in part of the majority of the world nowadays? Or has our own education not emphasized how one should take art? Education today focuses on practicality, which is important given the world?s economy. But with practicality comes the compromise of individuality, the soul, the life that gives art.

While not always entertaining, an art form is now devoid of being appreciated by being itself. Art today is not appreciated without empathy or relationship. The mere fact an individual can make something to express themselves, while being hard to understand, is not sellable or appreciated anymore. A lack of understanding or education of art, is this the problem of today?s art audiences?
