New Downtown Sports Bar Serves Up Lobster Bisque, Baseball Team Cocktails, and (Soon) To-Go Dogs

Baseball fans in need of a little pub and grub pre- or post-game may want to check out downtown's new Coach's Corner Grill.

Located at 333 East Jefferson Street, just steps away from Chase Field, the sports-minded spot comes courtesy of two of the owners of Coach & Willies, the downtown bar and grill on Third Avenue that shuttered last October and became Legends Sports Bar and Restaurant in February. (The Coach & Willies location in Chandler remains open.)

"It's a different menu," Coach's Corner Grill manager Daron Harvey tells me. "We've updated a lot of popular items from Coach & Willie's and brought in some new ones, too."

Here's what hungry (and thirsty) sports hounds can expect.

Along with upscale bar snacks like house made garlic mozzarella sticks, sweet potato chili wedges, and lobster bisque (a customer favorite at Coach & Willie's), Coach's offers sandwiches and salads along with loaded burgers like the Holy Bacon and spicy Bleu Bayou.

In the land of adult libations, Harvey tells me that, along with 10 beers on tap, customers can choose from a menu of 30 cocktails named for each MLB team.

"The cocktail for the Arizona Diamondbacks is called The D-Bomb," Harvey explains. "It's like a Long Island Iced Tea with Chambord and a can of Red Bull sticking out of the top."

(Yikes.)

Harvey goes on to say that, in another week or so, Coach's will have the ability to feed its customers express style -- with a kiosk at the side of the building that will serve up to-go eats like hot dogs and snacks.

Coach's Corner Grill opened its doors on Friday, July 5. But at 8 p.m., Saturday, August 3, the new downtown sports bar will throw a grand opening party proper with ticket giveaways, drink specials, complimentary apps, and live music.
