CHESAPEAKE --Kids are having a lot of fun at the Chesapeake Sheriff?s Office 3rd Annual Children Today Leaders Tomorrow Football Camp, and officials made sure they didn't get overheated.?

Instead of ending at 3:00 p.m. Friday, the kids were moving off the field at noon.

"We want to follow all the precautions," said Jim O?Sullivan, Chesapeake Undersheriff and Founder of CTLT.

Coach "Cadillac" Harris blew the whistle right at noon and motioned the youngsters to come off the field.

As of 1:00 p.m., air quality in Hampton Roads had reached Code Orange range. Active children and adults, and people with respiratory diseases, such as asthma, should limit strenuous outdoor activities through this evening.

Dozens of middle school students are running and throwing and being put through their paces at Colon L. Hall Stadium.

They're also getting advice from city high school and middle school football coaches and former NFL?players.

The camp started Thursday and wraps up Saturday. Games begin at 9:00 a.m. and the camp ends at noon.
